Metabolomics analysis may help ALS patients

Amid the devastating blow to ALS patients and ALS researchers delt by the funding lords we have an idea. Part of our research uncovered metabolic markers, analytes, useful in assessing ALS patients. The metabolomics study conducted by Dr. Robert Naviaux, Professor of Genetics Biochemical Genetics and Metabolism Departments of Medicine, Pediatrics, and Pathology. He is Co-director, The Mitochondrial and Metabolic Disease Center (MMDC) in San Diago, CA.

The “analytes” were lipid markers. Several NDR projects led to lipids as key molecules in the progression of ALS. And we noted in a patient these markers improved with some therapies. Dr. Naviaux will publish these data this summer and we will let you know before the ink is dry! Metabolomic studies revealed some useful supplements, certainly not a cure but can support the fight against progression.

An ALS patient can be proactive until more research is available. A company, Iollo®, offers metabolic testing and analysis. https://www.iollo.com/ Dr. Naviaux looked at the Iollo® output and found that the results measure lipids and other metabolites found to be discriminating in ALS! We will be contacting Iollo® to see if they will be supportive of patients that could benefit from the analysis. While we do that order your kit and send us the results. We will start a database and see where it leads.
